Argan oil /All about the “liquid gold” of Morocco

Argan oil is one of the most expensive oils in the world.  Why is it so valuable and popular?  Personally, I always try to choose whether it’s shampoo or cream with this miracle oil. I decided to find out for myself why it is called “liquid gold” of Morocco.  

In Morocco, the argan tree has long been called the “tree of life” because it is used in almost all industries. The local population even consider the argon tree sacred! A unique product is extracted from the seeds of the tree’s fruit – argan oil – a real Moroccan national symbol.  Moroccan women use argon oil from a young age to the very old years as a massage oil for the face and body, to moisturize and protect the skin from dehydration, heal scars, repair the skin after acne, for rheumatism, for skin lifting and prevent stretch marks.

Argan oil is extracted by hand.  This is the main reason why the oil has a rather high price.  To get just one liter of oil, you need to harvest at least six trees.

The chemical composition of argan oil has been studied by leading world experts for many years.  It is very rich in polyunsaturated fatty acids, the most important of which is linoleic acid, which helps to regenerate the skin.  These are important components for maintaining the proper hydrolipid barrier of the skin, stimulating oxygenation of cells, maintaining the desired level of hydration and elasticity of the epidermis.  With age, the concentration of polyunsaturated fatty acids invariably decreases, as a result of which the elasticity of the skin decreases and dehydration increases, which leads to the appearance of wrinkles.  Replenishing the deficiency of these acids, it is quite possible to slow down the destructive processes that are a consequence of age factors. 

The oil contains a high percentage of tocopherols.  Their presence in argan oil stimulates the activity of enzymes that are associated with detoxification processes and have antioxidant properties.  It is thanks to all these properties of argan oil that woman of the East are famous for their smooth skin and completely luxurious hair.
